ALS. Five letters, in Latin, to Dr. John Houghton of Yarmouth, England. In the first letter he refers to the wars raging in Europe as causing him to delay publication of his works. He mentions being offered the chair of surgery at Padua by John Vesling. The second letter was published in his "De Recondita Abscessum Natura Libra VIII." Letter three is an acknowledgment of receiving William Harvey's opinion on the anguiform body in the heart and refers to a visit to Naples by Houghton. After an interval of almost five years, (letter four), Severinus writes to Houghton that his letter concerning the cardiac worms has been included in his "The Obscure Nature of Abscesses," the edition being published at Frankfort, Germany. The fifth letter refers to the publication of Severinus' works. He mentions Sir George Ent, Prof. Hermann Conring, John Pell and William Harvey.
